Sims Country Cloggers -
Celebrating 10 Years!

THE SIMS COUNTRY CLOGGERS consist of Pee Wee, Elementary, Junior, Senior, and Adult Competition Teams and Beginner through Intermediate and Advanced dancers.  We used to practice at Sims Country BBQ in Dudley Shoals, NC, near Hickory.  In April, 2006, we moved into our new studio which has three studio rooms and a great Air Conditioner!  Our dancers range in age from 3 to Adults and come from all around the Catawba Valley.  We have cloggers from Alexander, Burke, Caldwell, Catawba, Lincoln, and Wilkes counties.  We love to clog at events in our area and beyond.  Here are some of the things we do as a team:

Locally:  We can be spotted dancing at Sims BBQ, the Molasses Festival, Hudson Butterfly Festival, Caldwell County Fair, at events all across our area; SCC holds Car Washes and Other Fundraisers to help with uniform expenses and travel for competition teams;  Other places we have danced include the Taylorsville Apple Festival, Hickory Crawdad’s Stadium, St. Matthews Fall Fair, Art on the Avenue in Hickory, Caldwell County Schools Teacher Assistant Banquet, Valdese Elementary School's Cultural Arts Celebration, Liberty Middle School's AE Ceremony, and the Foothills Antique Power Association Tractor Show.   Recently we have performed for the Duke Power Retirees in Hickory, Frye Regional Medical Center's Weight Loss Gala, Helping Hands Clinic Pot of Gold Fundraiser, Caldwell Reads, Longview Elementary's Cultural Fair, Granite Falls Middle School St. Patrick's Day, and the Carolina Piedmont Pageant.  We also fill in regularly for the Tweetsie Cloggers at Tweetsie Railroad.  Our Summer Parties have been at Hickory Dickory Dock, Steele Creek, and Local Rec Departments.  We have studio Easter Egg Hunts and Haunted Hayrides.  SCC holds summer camps for new or beginner cloggers all the way through advanced dancers...camps are open to anyone.  The Sims Country Cloggers hold a yearly recital in which all of our groups participate and receive an award.  Some of our recent recital themes have been “Blast from the Past, ” "Entertainment Review:  What's on TV," "SCC's Wide World of Sports."  Our 2008 Recital was Clogging Through Time.  More about recitals can be found on the Recital Page.

In May and August, SCC subbed for the Tweetsie Cloggers.  We will be performing at Tweetsie again on May 9, 10, 11, 16, 17, & 18.  Come see us!

Our Show Fundraiser, “Carolina Traditions” is held in April.  Thank you to the Tanner Mundy and the Little Rascals and Little River Boys, Sawyer Whitman and the Good Ole Boys, the St. Joseph's Irish Dancers, Charles Bowman, the Flowers Family for helping us out with the entertainment.  In 2007 we added Alaina Wallace, Emily Rhodes & Jill Howard, and Danielle Greene to our line up!  The show was held at the Alexander Central High School Auditorium and was a huge success!  We had over 400 people in attendance!  THE 2008 Carolina Traditions Show was Saturday, April 19 at Alexander Central High School.  Our 2009 show will be announced soon!

The Sims Country Cloggers also host the Foothills Clogging Challenge the third Saturday in August.  Several teams from all over the Southeast come to compete at the Civic Center.  This year the competition is August 16, 2008.

Farther From Home:  Our Competition and Junior Olympics Team Has traveled all over the South and the US to places such as Detroit, Michigan, Amherstburg, Canada, St. Louis Missouri, Des Moines, Iowa, Paducah Kentucky, Charleston, SC, New Orleans, Louisiana, and Nashville and Gatlinburg, TN.  We also performed at the Tim McGraw Concert at the Alltel Pavillion in Raleigh, NC.  In August 2007, the Sims Country Cloggers performed at Disney World in Orlando, FL.  We are currently planning our Summer 2008 Trip which is in Myrtle Beach, SC.  Check back for more information!
